Meagan Solomon (she/her)
Founding Director
Meagan Solomon is a Chicana Jewish femme scholar and educator whose work centers on the lives and literature of Latina/e lesbians. Based in Austin, Texas, she is currently an Assistant Professor of Feminist Studies at Southwestern University. Her research has been published in Chicana/Latina Studies: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social, The Journal of Lesbian Studies, Chicana Portraits: Critical Biographies of Twelve Chicana Writers edited by Norma E. Cantú, and more. Beyond her professional roles, she is a cat mom of two, a lover of art and astrology, and a zinemaker who believes in the power of co-creation and community.

Alexandra N. Salazar (she/her)

Alexandra Nichole Salazar is a PhD Candidate in the Mexican American and Latina/o Studies program at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on queer archives of the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in Texas. She is not only interested in queer border archives but also what we can learn from queer border networks, iconographies, and geographies. She is also the producer and host of Jotxs y Recuerdos, a podcast dedicated to archiving queer life from the RGV and other borderlands. She is proud to be from the 956!

Anahí Ponce (she/they)

Anahí Ponce (she/they) is a queer fronteriza from northeast El Paso. She is a current PhD candidate in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies at the University of Texas at Austin and has research interests in queer of color critique, digital feminist and media studies, as well as border studies. Anahí has previously served as a community engagement coordinator for the Austin-based queer performing arts festival OUTsider fest, has been published in Chicana/Latina Studies: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social, and can be found with a switchblade in hand on any given day. Anahí's work is grounded in a commitment to solidarity with oppressed peoples across the globe and in the understanding that there is no pride for some of us, without liberation for all of us.

Deysy Bonilla (they/she)

Deysy Bonilla is a queer multimedia artist and photojournalist based in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in Houston, Texas to Central American parents, Deysy's cultural heritage inspires their artistic vision and storytelling approach. They pursued their passion at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photojournalism. Deysy’s work reflects a dedication to unity consciousness, exploring the idea that we are all interconnected and reflections of one another. Currently, Deysy works as a photo lab technician, specializing in archiving old photographs. This role allows them to engage with the past, preserving stories and memories that might otherwise be lost. This work influences their creative projects which emphasize the importance of representation and shared humanity, especially for QTBIPOC communities.

Guadalupe Ortega (they/them)

Guadalupe Ortega is a feminist scholar and lesbian archivist pursuing a PhD in Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Their work aims to understand how lesbian digital archives use negative affect as part of their archival methods and mourning practices. Their research interests include lesbian of color aging, community memory, alternative archives, and queer death studies. Outside academia, Guadalupe enjoys jewelry making, learning new languages, astrology and personality tests, cooking, and scrapbooking.

Lu Farrell (they/them)

Lu Farrell is a Chicanx trans nonbinary artist, community arts organizer and digital strategist living in San Antonio,Texas. In their professional life, Lu works as a digital strategist, supporting mission driven organizations in storytelling and creative design. As a Curator with Future Front Texas, Lu collaborates with other local artists to host public arts programming centering queer creative expression including figure drawing classes and creative knowledge sharing events. Lu graduated from Wesleyan University in 2017 with a degree in Sociology and International Relations. In their free time, Lu enjoys floating the river, cooking with friends and spending time with their dog, Otis.

Mariana Meriqui Rodrigues (she/her)

Mariana Meriqui Rodrigues is a Sapatão, mother, fat, lesbo-feminist activist with a deep commitment to the artistic interventions, knowledge production, and political engagement of lesbians through decolonial practices. She serves as the National Coordinator for the LesboCenso Nacional in Brazil and is completing her PhD in Women's, Genders, and Sexualities Studies. With master’s degrees in Latin American Studies and Education, Mariana’s work encompasses Transnational Feminism, International Relations, Social Movements, Gender and Sexuality, Latin American and Latinx Studies, Human Rights, Sexual Rights and Reproductive Justice, Public Security, Public Policy, and Education.

Melissa Aslo de la Torre (she/her)

Melissa Aslo de la Torre is a queer Midwestern Mexican transplant to New York City, where she is the librarian for Latin American, Caribbean, Spanish, and Portuguese Studies at NYU. She is also a memory worker and zine-maker interested in queer, cuir, trans, and lesbiana archiving practices, art, literature, and activism.

Mia Santoscoy (she/her)

Mia Santoscoy is from the Rio Grande Valley and an undergraduate Communication Studies and Latin American and Border Studies double major at Southwestern University. She is part of Malflora Collective's Research Team as Meagan Solomon's Research Assistant. Her goal in academia and research (and just life in general) is to share the stories and work of underrepresented communities, and she’s so happy to be a part of a collective that wants to do exactly that!
